Best Case Colours for iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max

Choosing an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max case is easy until you actually start thinking about the colour. You’ve already picked a phone you’re going to look at every day, so the case needs to work with it — not fight it.

At Pocket Dial, we spend a slightly ridiculous amount of time looking at phone cases, colour combinations and which designs actually look good together. So if you’re wondering what colour case looks best on your iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, these are the combinations we’d choose.

If you already know what you want, you can browse our iPhone 17 Pro cases or iPhone 17 Pro Max cases.

What colour case looks best on the iPhone 17 Pro Max?

It depends on the colour of your iPhone. Our rule is simple: either lean into the phone colour with something tonal, or choose a proper contrast. The combinations in the middle can sometimes look a bit accidental.

Best cases for a Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max

Cosmic Orange already has plenty of personality, so you can go one of two ways: keep things warm and tonal, or contrast it with pinks, blues and softer neutrals.

Our favourite combinations: orange + pink, orange + cream, orange + navy, and orange + red.

For a bright, summery combination, Golden Orange keeps the whole look warm, while Sun Rays and Sunset Star bring in pink without losing the orange underneath.

If you want more contrast, we’d go darker. Yacht Club gives the orange a strong navy contrast that feels much more intentional than trying to match it exactly.

Best cases for a Deep Blue iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max

Deep Blue is probably the easiest colour to style. Navy and blue cases make it look clean and put-together, while cream, white and warmer colours give you more contrast.

Our favourite combinations: blue + navy, blue + white, blue + cream, and blue + soft pink.

If you want to stay tonal, Deep Blue is the obvious choice. Buttermilk Sailor and Coastal Knots also work really well because they keep the blue running through the design without making the whole phone one solid colour.

For something lighter, Vanilla Cream gives Deep Blue a softer contrast and makes the phone colour stand out around the camera.

Best cases for a Silver iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max

Silver is the blank canvas of the iPhone 17 Pro colours. Pretty much anything works, which is great — although it also means you suddenly have far too many choices.

Our favourite combinations: silver + pink, silver + green, silver + navy, silver + brown, and silver + cream.

For a clean neutral look, try Soft Knit or Vanilla Cream. If you want the case to be the main event, Matcha Baby, Cherry Baby or Hot Horizon all give the silver phone a much stronger pop of colour.

Should your phone case match your iPhone colour?

Not necessarily. Matching colours can look really polished, but contrast is often more interesting. A Deep Blue iPhone with a navy case is easy and classic; a Cosmic Orange iPhone with a pink or blue case feels much more playful.

The other thing worth remembering is that you see the case far more than the back of the phone. If there’s a design you love, we wouldn’t rule it out just because it isn’t a perfect colour match.

Patterned or plain?

A plain case lets the iPhone colour do more of the work. A patterned case turns the whole phone into more of an accessory. We’re biased, obviously, but this is also why having more than one case makes sense. Your phone doesn’t have to look the same every day.

If you want something that still feels protective rather than purely decorative, have a look at our protective iPhone cases.

Our final picks

For Cosmic Orange, we’d pick pink, navy or another warm orange. For Deep Blue, navy, cream and white are hard to get wrong. For Silver, almost anything works, so it’s the best option if you like changing your case regularly.
